Interstel / Mobile app development
Touch. Click.
Press play.
Interstel is the company behind extraTV. We design, develop and maintain apps for the phone in your hand, the TV in your living room and the computer on your desk.
Product ownership, interface design, playback and releases. From a first prototype to the next version.
Our thinking.
On your screen.
extraTV is where our product decisions, interface work and engineering come together.
A place to find, play
and return to your media.
extraTV is an IPTV and media player for content from the sources users choose. Interstel owns the product and directs its development across mobile, television and desktop.
Finding something to watch, opening the player, changing an audio track, returning to the library: each step is part of the product.
- 01
Find your next watch.
Browse the library and move through channels, movies and series.
- 02
Make playback yours.
Bring the player, controls and available tracks within reach.
- 03
Keep your bearings.
Move between playback, the library and your preferences.
The interface is a sequence of actions. We work on the connections between them.

Input matters
Same product.
Different instincts.
A thumb, a remote and a pointer take different paths through an app. The interface should know the difference.
Illustrative interface study.
Touch / Mobile
Within a thumb's reach.
A small screen has to make room for the content and the controls. The next action should be easy to find without turning the player into a wall of buttons.
- Reach
- Place frequent actions where they are comfortable to tap.
- Space
- Give the content priority, then reveal controls when needed.
- Flow
- Make the route from browsing to playback easy to follow.
Illustrative interface study.
Remote / Television
Know where the next press goes.
A television is used from a distance, one directional press at a time. Navigation needs to stay predictable, and the selected item should never be a guessing game.
- Focus
- Make the current selection clear from across the room.
- Direction
- Give each press a logical destination through the interface.
- Legibility
- Size labels and playback controls for a television screen.
Illustrative interface study.
Pointer & keyboard / Desktop
Put the extra space to work.
A larger window changes the way people browse and control an app. The library and the player need a clear relationship, with room for both direct clicks and keyboard navigation.
- Structure
- Use the wider layout to keep useful routes within view.
- Precision
- Make pointer targets clear without crowding the interface.
- Access
- Consider the path through the app for keyboard users.
03 / How we build
From the first flow
to the next version.
A working app is the result of decisions, checks and revisions. We stay with that work throughout the life of the product.
- 01
Shape the flow.
Start with the actions people need to take. Map the screens, the navigation and the next step. Prototypes turn a product idea into something that can be examined and refined.
Product direction / Interface design - 02
Build for the device.
Turn the flow into working interfaces and application behaviour. Connect the player, the content library and the controls, taking the platform and input method into account.
Application development / Platform integration - 03
Follow the whole journey.
Check what happens between screens: opening the app, loading a source, starting playback, changing a setting and finding the way back. Observe the behaviour, examine the logs and refine the result.
Functional testing / Playback / Navigation - 04
Ship. Learn. Keep building.
Prepare builds, signing and store submissions. Work through review feedback and carry improvements into the next version. A release is a milestone in an ongoing product.
Release preparation / Updates / Maintenance
A principle we work by
Make the next
action feel obvious.
A visible focus state. A control you can reach. A subtitle menu you can read from the sofa. A clear route back to the library.
These are small parts of an application. Giving them attention is how engineering becomes an experience people can understand.
The company
behind the app.
INTERSTEL SAS brings product ownership and application development together.
We look after extraTV, from the interface on the screen to the engineering, testing and release work behind it.
